Turn the Key
My heart is like a lock.
To open it you need the key.
You could just try to knock.
But that alone won't let you see me.

I put this lock here to protect my soul.
It's there to keep me safe for the right man.
So if getting to my heart is your goal,
Better check your keys again.

I have been hurt before.
I have felt the pain of one who was untrue.
I have had my soul ripped to the core.
That's why the lock is so hard to get through.

I sit here waiting for someone who is kind.
I long to find someone to touch.
A man unafraid to speak his mind.
Someone who won't use me as a crutch.

In my mind I can see him.
A smile that could light the sky.
Someone who hasn't let life make him grim.
Someone who doesn't cheat or lie.

His hair is soft and thick.
I long to run my fingers through it.
His skin is smooth and slick.
His body against mine is a perfect fit.

His hands would be gentle and strong.
They would know just how to touch me.
His legs would be smooth and long.
In his arms is where I'd want to be.

But until such a man is found,
This lock will continue to protect me.
But if you are he and will stick around,
Then all you have to do is turn the key.

Once in a Lifetime
People think, that love will come,
Every once in a while,
Truth be told, that love they seek,
Is the cut-above-the-average kind?

Now the cut-above-the-average kind,
Is truly very splendid.
Passion is there, caring too,
And fun can be had by all.

I know many a happy couple, who shares,
This kind of love, and it can sustain them,
All through the years,
Until their dying day.

They won't know, there is anything better,
And indeed for them, there is not,
For you do not miss, what you've never known,
Unless you have nothing at all.

Sadly so, I also know, many stuck with the latter,
They hunger inside for what they don't know,
Just know it is not what they've got to them,
The cut-above-the-average, would be the Keys to Heaven.

Although the cut-above-the-average kind,
Is truly a love that is deep?
There are a few, who live with this love,
Who are able to turn their back on it?

Walking away from a deep-seeded love,
Is a curious mystery to me?
Yet, some that I know, connected that deep,
Have been able to so viciously rip it apart.

But there are a few, all too few,
Who know there is much, much more?
A love that transcends, the humanity mold,
A once-in-a-lifetime kind.

Some call this twin-love, some call it soul-bound,
Indeed, the reality is both.
This love is so entwined, in who they both are,
Leaving would leave them destroyed.

Once you have found if you are lucky, that is,
The one who is bound to your soul?
You cannot move on, you cannot go back,
Your need for each other is encompassing.

Scientists would say, it alters the genes,
Right down to the DNA,
And once that is done, he is to she, as she is to he,
The life they must depend upon.

Disagreements between them, cannot divide them,
It just cannot ever be,
For only together, alone in they re blending,
Can either take breath and live on.

In essence, you see, they became one in we,
An island in the midst of civilization,
His energy for her, is the fuel that she needs,
And hers, is his catalyst for living.

So for all you lucky ones,
Who love in the cut-above-the-average kind?
Take joy in your love, and honor it well,
But next time, hold out for your mated,

ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME KIND!

Words taken for Granted
Tell him you love him, that's the key you see,
Let him know you need him, most emphatically.
Show him the world, is an empty place,
Without him to share it, you just cannot face,
All the many things, the world has in store,
Because he's you're lover, your mate, and so much more.

Saying the words, may seem unimportant,
But words are like musical components.
They begin with the overture, the body, and finale'
At each separate phase, the musical tally,
Is repeated, reworked, replayed, and remade,
For the opera to become, what is meant to convey.

Speaking the words, may seem trivial, no doubt,
But they leave no room, for confusion about,
What your mate means, how important is he,
What is a few minutes, to let your mate see,
He is vital enough, for you to make time,
To let him know, he's there in your mind.

Little things, are all that it takes,
To keep the flame burning, for love's growing stakes,
So the font you both drink from, will never run dry,
Simply because you were too busy to try,
To say a few words, each and every day,
Let him hear, you love him, every conceivable way.

The Wings of a Dream
A dream of love, arrives on the wind,
Fed by the night lit skies,
Filled with wonders, of all the days,
And nights filled with lullabies.

You came to me, wrapped in a dream,
Of Light that blinded my eyes,
To bring me love, like none I'd known,
Filled with magic and tremulous sighs.

I come to you, on the heart of my sleeve,
Shining with wondering surprise,
To meet the force of a love so deep,
That can only be found in your eyes.

As the night moves on, and the wings unfurl,
I feel your appetites,
That lifts me higher into your love,
Up there in the heavenly skies.

For now you are there, where I can't be,
The distance is hard to abide,
Until I sleep throughout the night,
Wrapped in your spiritual ties.

A dream of love, arrives on the wind,
Fed by the night lit skies,
Filled with wonders, of all the days,
That will fill us with passion and cries.

Answers to my prayers
Take away the sorrow,
Take away the pain,
Take away the loneliness,
Make me smile again.

Life is but a struggle,
Life is not a crutch,
Stand on your two feet my friend,
The outcome is twice as much.

Every day's a challenge,
Every day's a task,
Just look towards tomorrow,
Forget and bury the past.

One day there is sunshine,
To the many days of rain,
God helps those who love all others,
And makes them smile again.

Love's Risk
There is a risk involved in everything
Every time you share a smile
Every time you shed a tear
You are opening yourself up to hurt.

Some people tread slowly through life,
Avoiding the closeness risk brings,
Side-stepping the things they can't understand
Turning away from those who care too much-
Those who care stay too long,
Those who hold too tightly.

There is never an easy way to love
You can not approach it cautiously
It will not wait for you to arm yourself.
It does not care if you turn away
It is everywhere, it is everything.

Love is the greatest of all risks.
It is not reliable, it is not cautious,
It is not sympathetic
It is unprejudiced and unmerciliess.
It strikes the strongest of mind,
And brings them to their knees in one blow.

Even in the best of times, love hurts.
It hurts to need, it hurts to belong,
It hurts to be the other part of someone else,
Without either of your consent.
But, from the moment it overtakes you,
It hurts worse to be all alone.

The risk of love never depletes;
It grows stronger and more dangerous with time.
But, it's in the total surrender of all defense,
That we, no matter weak or strong,
No matter willing or captive,
No matter what, we truly experience love.

Despite the many things love is not,
Outweighing it all are the things that love is.
Love is surrender without a loss.
It is a gift without the cost.
It consumes your every thought & desire,
Every breath you take.
It is the fire that fuels you
To do more than pass through life;
It urges you, instead, to live.

No matter the outcome, having felt love,
You will never be the same.
It may scar your heart & soul
And Leave you only memories of forever.
Or, it may cause every day of your life
To feel like there is no need for tomorrow.
But, love is worth it. It is worth the risk...
For in all of life,
Love is truly the only risk worth taking.

I want you for an Eternity
I want you like an addict,
Craves his favorite drug,
A fix that only calms the beast,
That soon will claw again.

I want you like a bottle babe,
Needs his whiskey brew,
Alcohol, burns his gut,
You have branded my soul.

I want you like a shopping friend,
Craves new credit cards,
So I can purchase all your love,
And bank it inside of my inter self.

I want you like a gambler howls,
When the cards are with him,
And he's on a winning streak,
He has no pleasure limits.

I want you like a food-aholic,
Confronts a smorgasbord,
Gobbling here, devouring there,
Gorging on such succulence.

I want you like a person in love,
For that is what I am,
I crave from the depths of my soul,
Your passion is my addiction.

Imagine a World
Imagine a world, where love's supreme,
Where there are, no winners or losers,
Where every person, big and small,
Cares, about the future of each other.

Imagine a world, where no one starves,
Not for food, nor shelter, nor money,
No one wonders, why they were born,
Because they were born, for sheer wonder.

Imagine a world, where everyone knows,
True happiness; can only be found,
When they open, their minds and hearts,
To the Community, of being God's offspring.

Imagine a world, where no one lays claim,
To the land, and all its resources,
Where the entire race, man, woman, and child,
Understands they all belong to each other.

Imagine a world, where our consciousness,
Has been raised, to the level we know,
That the tree in the forest, and the bird in the sky,
All belong, to that same, magnificent family.

Imagine a world, for you and I,
Where we can lift, our heads in communion,
And watch the birds, in a smog-less sky,
And breathe in, the cleanest sweet air.

Imagine a world, where poverty's a crime,
And starvation, a dirty word,
Where the world, has plenty of all it needs,
To feed, clothe, and nurture it's many.

Imagine a world, where no one sneers,
At open, expressions of loving,
Where hitting another, and calling it sport,
No longer, is called entertainment.

Imagine a world, where love reigns supreme,
And no one stays bound in institutions,
That binds two souls, who have filled their roles,
And need to move on to another.

Imagine a world, where soulessness,
That empty, "I can't wait to die" feeling,
Is the crime, the world must treat,
For love, is the code we must live by.

Imagine a world, where no one doubts,
Their importance, to the rest of the world,
The fact they were born, into this world,
Is enough, to be celebrated always.

Imagine a world, where no one falls,
Through, the pitfalls of life,
If only one person, is lost to us,
We are all, at a loss as well.

Imagine a world, where I reach out,
To touch, ALL my brothers and sisters,
And they in turn reach out to touch,
All that I am, and can be.
