A Prayer For Scotty Vickie Oates Porterfield
I lit a candle in the dark,
in search of what to do.
Then I got down on my knees,
and I said a prayer for you.
I cried out for some comfort,
and I pleaded with the Lord.
I said, "If you'll just hold him,
then I'll ask for nothing more."
He said He's right there with you,
and He's got you by His side.
He sees how bad you're hurting,
and He knows how much we've cried.
I said, "I do not know your reasons Lord,
and I do not understand.
But somehow I can feel you,
when I take him by the hand.
He said, "I'm in control here,
and you have to trust in me.
For Scotty's only sleeping,
and his pain I will set free.
So rest upon my shoulder,
and let me guide him through,
and when this journey's over,
then I'll send him back to you.
