Harold Lackey, Howard Mc Kinney, Jack Goodbody
The night of February 3 1961 was a Friday night and six of us soldier apprentices were on our way home
for a weekend Pass. The weather was a mixture of snow and rain as I indicated in letters that followed.
My guess was that I was asleep in the back seat with two other soldier friends. The front seat was
occupied by Harold Lackey from Perth Ontario Canada a private apprentice of the second year group.
He was also the driver of the vechile. The other passengers were Private Howard McKinney of
Kamloops British Columbia Canada. He was also a second year apprentice. The other soldier in the front
was Private Jack Goodbody of Perth Ontario Canada. He was with me and my two other friends a
Private Wayne Fulstner of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Canada and Private Robert Stenburg of Red Deer
Alberta, Alberta Canada these were first year apprentices like myself.
The accident occurred at Sharbot lake Ontario Canada where we were involved in a accident with
another vechile driven by a Air Force Officer. The three in the front were killed I think instantly. I
received my TBI here then. The two other occupants in the back to this day I know not of there where
abouts. Another part of the hurt in my life.
