Alfredo "Miracle" Flores

Hi, I am writing this story for my son Alfredo. On April 30, 2000 Alfredo was on his way home from a car show with friends, all of Alfredo's friends were in their own cars, all were going faster than the speed limit between 80 to 100 mph on the freeway, Alfredo had left everyone behind in the race home for the gathering, when friend caught up with Alfredo his car had already did a 180 and flipped several times, Alfredo was air lifted to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek Ca. were he suffered a severe head injury, he had a blown left pupil and swelling to the brain. My husband and I were told that Alfredo needed a feeding tube, tracheotomy, and needed surgery to insert a monitor into his head because of the swelling. Alfredo was on life support for about 1 1/2 weeks then he started breathing on his own, by 2 1/2 weeks he was stable enough to move to a different hospital because he was out of trauma. Alfredo lasted 3 month in a coma and the hospital discharged my son on July 15, 2000 because he was posturing and non-responsive. The hospital said it was time to find a nursing facility for Alfredo since he was a 22 year old male and needed acute care, meaning trache cleaning, diaper changing, and drip feeding through his feeding tube. Well with alot of faith/trust in God my husband, myself, and 5 other childred we decided to take Alfredo home since thats where he lived before his accident. With alot of praying and love from the family, My son is improving day by day ( Home is remedy). The Lord has givin Alfredo a second chance in life, it is now March 2001, 10 1/2 months into his injury, Alfredo is not in diapers, the Trache is gone, feeding tube was removed, he is talking, and now is in rehabilitation and is starting to learn to walk. My son still has a long road ahead of him for recovery. I believe in miracles becuase of what God has done for Alfredo. Story by Alfredo's Mom.
