9/7/01 I got up did all of my normal routine at home and drove to work. It was my last day as a temp, it was a friday and on Monday I was to begin my full-time permanent job. From what my husband has pieced together for me, it was in the afternoon and I was walking down the hall delivering paperwork or doing clean-up on a project so I could leave at the end of the day without loose ends. Something happened in the hall, either someone coming down the hall in the opposite direction hit my foot, or someone stuck their foot out of their cubical and hit my foot, this something caused me to trip and fall forward head first into a support column in the building. There was a lot of blood, they called the ambulance and sent me to the emergency room. They gave me 6 stitches and said to take two days out from work. I took Saturday & Sunday then went to my new job on Monday. The headache was still there and I left early. The next day was the infamous 9/11 attack on NYC and they let everyone go home early.
My boss started having meetings with me, telling me that I my work was not what it should be. They fired me after three months because the job I should have been able to do without any problem at all I just couldn't seem to learn.
I thought I was having a break down and went to my internist who sent me to other doctors who determined that I had post traumatic brain injury. It has been almost three years now and I'm still not working. I have trouble learning new things, I get flooded when there is to much stimulous. My life has changed dramatically. I keep thinking, if only I hadn't gone to work that last day.
