The TBI Chatroom |
Feb 24, 2000 I was told that 4 minutes leaving my home, I plunged off a 20ft cliff with my car into the lake below and was found appx 15min later drowned. In a two week period, I was intubated 5 times and 1 surgery. I was still being taught how to walk when I was let go from the hospital.
I was a nurse for 9yrs and a trauma nurse in the military for 8yrs. I'm a single mom of two children a daughter 7 and a son 4. I was also going to school to up my nursing degree.
Now, after being tested, my IQ dropped to the high 80's, I don't remember much of 99, 2000, or this year. I now suffer from occassional nocturnal seizures, have optic nerve damage so bright lights are out of the question and I have global brain damage...the worst hit was my brainstem.
I guess that will teach me to scuba dive with my car! I know what the *walking dead* is like and I am still unbound in time. I haven't accepted the demise of my old self and struggle to build a new personality, and identity. Now looking at me, nobody can tell what happened. From what it looks like.....the walking dead aren't speaking much either.
Thanx for reading this.
