Hello again can't wait to tell you all that my son is doing now. The last update was in May. Today is Aug. 28, 2000, he is still in the rehab for head injuries and has been there since March 29, 2000. He is now talking alot and laughing and smiling. He still has some problems with his motor skills on the initiation of conversation, but the therapists told me this past Thursday, that now they don't hardly ever have to give him cues no more to talk or anything. He is walking up to 600ft. on a reg. walker and has been on a tred mill for 3 mins. at a time. He also has been standing on a tilt board, trying to get his heel cords to release in his right foot, for 30 mins. The physical therapists said he is just in shock of the miracle that he is seeing. He can't believe that my son is doing what he's doing. I told him that God is still at work and is not through with him yet. We are bringing him home on Saturday's for the day now, he still can't stay over night, but this seems to have really helped him get that drive back into him, and making him work that much more on getting himself better. I have told him that when he can walk he gets to come home to stay, and that has given him the drive that he has. He is just amazing to watch. The doctors are still in amazement. He has had 3 seizures the first part of this month, that only lastedabout 2 mins. but they put him on anti-seizure meds, and he hasn't had another one since. They didn't slow him down or set him back any, thank God. The doctors don't know what caused the seizures, but this is the first time he's had one since his accident. It was a year, Aug. 3, 2000 since his accident, another year from now, no telling where he will be, since he has made this much recovery in this amount of time. I think, hope, and pray that he will be fully recovered in another years time. Only God knows for sure. I have been so blessed, and still being blessed each and every day, just getting to be involved in one of God's true miracles. I hope to talk to you all soon and be able to report that he is out of his wheel chair completely and back at school with all of his friends. I will keep in touch. I would like to update my story, already. It's so great and still unbelievable sometimes how great God is, it's overwhelming, at times, just to think about it. This past Sat., April 29th 2000, we celebrated my sons 16th birthday, at the rehab for TBI's. There were about 30 people there to help us celebrate. My son, was talking. He can't initiate the conversation, but he was answering all the questions asked of him, telling me who people were when I ask him their names, reading all the cards that came with his gifts, etc. He started this April 25, 2000, and each day he's gotten better and better. He's so much more alert, eating very well, and responding to theraphy very well. We are all floating on cloud 9. It's so great, to see God at work. The theraphist all said when he came to them on March 29, 2000, and they did their evaulations on him, they thought he would never be any better than what he was then. When you see therapists with tears in their eyes, talking about them getting chills just working with him and seeing him progress so fast and so much in just a short period of time. It makes you realize how blessed you are. Everyone's so excited, it's wonderful. We strongly believe our son will make a complete recovery, it's just going to take time. I have a son 15yrs. old, he will be 16 April 28th, 2000, in 2 days. His accident happened Aug.3,1999. He was standing in a lawn chair out at his rabbit pens, we guess shooting at a snake with a 22 cal. pistol, long barrel on it, when he slipped and either fell or dropped the gun and it discharged. We know he didn't shoot it himself because there was no powder burns on clothes or hands. Plus I know my son very well and knew it was an accident before we even got results back from police. Anyway, the bullet went through both frontal lobes of his brain. He was out there an est. time of 2 1/2 hrs. before I found him. I was at work at the time. All the doctor could do is clean out the womb and get some of the bloodclot out on each side. There was a clot all the way through the womb. The dr. said if he survived he would have to go back in and remove the clot later. This happened on a Tuesday. I turned him over to God completely on Wednesday night, I knew I had done all I could humanly possible. The dr. was shocked he was still alive even after surgery. Thursday he started responding to me and the nurses but he wouldn't do anything for the dr. We don't know why he wouldn't but we didn't care he was still in there. Things progressed from there. By the grace of God he's on his way back. He seems to know everybody communicates on a spell board right now. Says some phrases sings everyword to songs on the radio and more. He's at a place right now strictly for head injury rehabilition. Which includes school. This past friday he started walking with his left leg on a RJO walker he's almost got control of his right leg too. The medical profession can't believe what he's doing they have no explanation for it, he should be dead or a vegetable right now, they say he's writing his own book right now they can't explain it because they have never had a case like this before with these results. I tell them every time God does perform miracles and I know that my son is a total miracle. Everyone that works with him gets so excited to be a part of this whole process. There's alot more details to my story but can't type them all but I do have a journal for my son from the time this first happened until now. I feel so blessed I can share my story with you at this time and hope to keep you up to date on how he's doing and all his progress. Thank you for taking the time to read my story or part of it.
