Bob Murfee

Greetings, all! My name is Bob Murfee and I am a long-term member of this "Exclusive Network" of TBI'ers. Actually, I experienced TBI twice: first at the age of 10, back in 1962, the result of playing leap-frog, (ironically, on Friday-the-13th of July, 1962). After being kneed in the head, I cried, went home for dinner and off to bed. I didn't awaken for three weeks. Concussion/coma/blood-clot which was removed on the second attempt. But, my friends, this was back in what would be considered "pre-historic times". There were neither a lot of options nor hardly any kind of TBI support groups back in those days. I pretty well had to wing it on my own.

Then, some 15 years later, w/ the foolishness of youth, I was out w/ my lady-friend, having a few drinks and riding my BMW motorcycle-(foolishly, w/out a helmet) when the coastal freeway was, suddenly, covered w/ sand. The rest of the story is obvious. Result: concussion & much shorter coma, broken bones and another arduous recovery. But, I'm sure, you all can relate to this situation.

The second accident was some 20+ years ago. All in all, though things have often been more difficult for me and I have failed in many attempts, I've still been able to live. In spite of the difficulties, I have: Lived/worked/studied/traveled in Europe/Africa/Asia (a total of some 45 countries); married a wonderful woman and fathered a beautiful daughtor, now 11-years old. We're living in a lovely house 1/2 block f/ Golden Gate Park (here in San Francisco) and one block f/ then Ocean. I'm currently working f/ the US Dept of Ed as a Loan Analyst. Career is my "Armageddan". I am still looking for a line of work that I can both devote myself and find some sortof fulfillment in. But, yet, life is good.

It's a pleasure to be w/ this grouyp. I'd love to hear from any/all of you guys!

Best wishes to all,
Bob Murfee
