Bonnie "bif" Meise

Name: Bonnie Meise
DOB: 2/9/62
Marital Status: Divorced

Hello,

I was in a MVA on June 18, 1999. It was a gorgeous summer Friday & I took the day off work because I had an interview in Milwaukee for the GMO (Greater Milwaukee Open). I left home around 12:10pm and was on highway 12 headed east approximately 3-4 miles from Sauk City. The person that hit me had been out of control previous according to the accident report. I didn't see anything unusual until I met the other driver, coming around a corner & headed right towards my car. It happened so fast - I don't remember the accident. One of the people that observed the accident said I did everything possible to avoid the accident - even to the extent of driving off the road.

They took me by ambulance to Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital where they transported me via Med-Flight to the University of WI Hospital.

I remained in the UW Hospital for almost 2 months and continued therapies for another 2 months at Sauk Prairie Hospital. I went back to work full time in November 1999. It was suggested I retake my drivers test because of the BI I sustained in the car accident. In December 1999 I passed the drivers test - piece of cake. So now I get the privilege of driving one of the most dangerous highways to work and back.

I'm trying to resume my life, and it "appears" to most that I'm doing great. They can't see the real injury. It was a left hemisphere injury so I still have problems with penmanship and my right foot feels like it's falling asleep. My fatigue level is getting better and will continue to do so. I'm stubborn, called a "wellness model" by my Neurophycologist. There is a part of me that died - I'm no longer the same person. I don't miss the old person but sometimes have a difficult time accepting the new.

The End
