THE EAGLE IS IN FLIGHT NOWThis is an update on lincoln baker. It is January 28, and lincoln is now talking, getting better at conversation everyday. He started talking 2 weeks ago, now he has had the swallow test and passed it, he is on thickened foods and loving every bit of it. we are getting ready to put him in a rehab center maybe next week, they are very confident as are we that he will walk again and regain the use of his arms and hands again. he can write his name, count, read. he remembers his brothers names, and where they live, but did not remember his mother and father or his brother rockford had died. we are telling him things a little at a time. and he is understanding it. although he does show alot of sadness when he relizes they have died. he has remembered where he use to live and his bosses name, he can tell time. and he has become quite the comedian too. we are all thankful to the LORD for giving us this miricle, we have all the confidence that LINCOLN has a second chance at a better life.
i hope everyone is well. and we also hope there are alot of MIRICLES GOING ON OUT THERE FOR ALL OF YOU TOO.
ALL OUR LOVE TO YOU ALL.

WE ARE WORKING HARD TO HELP HIM , HE LOVES BEING HOME, NOW SLEEPS THROUGH THE NIGHT ALTHOUGH I AM UP CHECKING ON HIM TWO OR THREE TIMES A NIGHT TO BE SURE HE IS COVERED UP. JUST WANTED YOU TO KNOW WHERE WE ARE AT THIS POINT.
WILL SEND UPDATES AGAIN SOON.
FOR THE RECORD WE DID END UP BASICALLY KIDNAPPING HIM OUT OF THE NURSING HOME . WE TRAVELED 23 HOURS NONSTOP WITH LINCOLN ON AN AIR MATTRESS BUMPERED UP WITH PILLOWS, THE KID MADE IT LIKE A CHAMP, NO PROBLEMS AT ALL,NO SEIZURES . WE KEPT THE WINDOWS CLOSED SO HE COULDNT SEE THE CARS GOING BY. I ALMOST HAD A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN WHEN WE GOT TO NEW YORK, BUT WE MADE IT HOME.
I HOPE EVERYONE OUT THERE IS WELL, WILL SEND MORE UPDATES SOON.
ALL OUR LOVE AND PRAYERS TO YOU ALL

MY BROTHER LINCOLN BAKER IS 36 YEARS OLD, HE WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT ON APRIL 15, 2000. IN THE LAST 3 MONTHS HE HAS BEEN THROUGH SO MUCH IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE HE IS STILL TRYING.HE WAS IN THE TRAUMA CENTER AT HALIFAX HOSPITAL IN DAYTONA FLORIDA FOR TWO AND A HALF MONTHS, THEY COULD NO LONGER KEEP HIM THERE SO THEY TRANSFERRED HIM TO A NURSING HOME IN SOUTH DAYTONA. HE WAS THERE 6 DAYS AND WAS TRANSFERRED TO THE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IN ORMOND BEACH FLORIDA, WITH SO MANY INFECTIONS I DON'T KNOW HOW HE MANAGED TO FIGHT THEM ALL OFF.AFTER 6 DAYS IN THE HOSPITAL HE WAS SENT TO A DIFFERENT NURSING HOME, WHERE HE IS FINALLY DOING BETTER. FOR 3 MONTHS I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND A WAY TO HAVE HIMSENT TO MY HOME IN RHODE ISLAND, THIS HAS TURNED OUT TO BE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. I HAVE SOMEONE WORKING ON IT NOW, I WILL HEAR FROM HIM MONDAY, HERES HOPING HE WILL SAY THEY CAN DO IT. I AM A CERTIFIED NURSING AIDE, AND PLAN TO REHAB HIM MYSELF IN MY HOME. I HAVE ALOT OF BACKUP, AND ALOT OF KNOWLEDGE AND KNOW I CAN HELP HIM. THE BIGGEST PROBLEM FOR ME IS GETTING HIM HOME. HAS ANYONE OUT THERE HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS? IF SO HOW DID YOU GET THINGS DONE? THE PEOPLE ON THE TBI WEB SITE HAVE BEEN VERY HELPFUL, POINTING ME IN THE RIGHT DIRECTIONS, I HAVE FOLLOWED THROUGH ON EVERY TIP I GET, TO NO AVAIL.BUT I WILL NEVER STOP TRYING.
I KNOW THE RECOVERY PROCESS IS A TOUGH ONE, BUT I DONT THINK IT WILL BE HARDER THEN LAYING IN A NURSING HOME, UNABLE TO BE WITH YOUR FAMILY, BEING CARED FOR BY TOTAL STRANGERS AND WONDERING WHY YOU CANT GO HOME.
MY BROTHER HAS BRAIN TRAUMA, HE KNOWS WHEN I TALK TO HIM ON THE PHONE WHO I AM. WHEN I TELL HIM TO CALM DOWN HE DOES. SO HE IS RESPONDING TO ME, WHICH GIVES ME HIGH HOPES THAT HE WILL MAKE GREAT PROGRESS WHEN I DO START WORKING WITH HIM.
HE HAS NO INSURANCE EXCEPT FOR WELFARE-- THAT TELLS A STORY ITSELF, I KNOW HE IS GETTING MINIMAL RANGE OF MOTION EXERCISES BUT TO RECOVER YOU NEED ALOT OF EXERCISES , SOMETHING YOU WILL NOT GET IN A NURSING HOME.ANYWAY THATS MY STORY, WE ARE IN THE TOUGHEST BATTLE OF LINCOLNS LIFE, I HOPE WE WILL GET HIM HOME SOON, IF ANYONE HAS ANY INPUT THAT MIGHT HELP LET ME KNOW THROUGH MY E-MAIL.
ALL MY LOVE AND PRAYERS TO YOU ALL
