On April 10 of this year, my fiance, Ken Wilson, was in a car accident. He was air evacuated from the scene. He had an enclosed brain injury. His left side of the brain swelled up to twice the size of a normal hemisphere and he had blood coming out of his ear. The neurosurgeon had given him a fifty fifty chance of living. He was in ICU for the first four weeks and has returned twice in the past week and a half due to dehydration and 2 types of infection in his lungs. He had the bone flap put back in on May 17 and he is doing very well so far. He recognizes everyone and is aware of his surroundings. The next step is six weeks in inpatient therapy. After that he will continue with outpatient therapy. This has been a long drawn out waiting game. He is doing better mentally than the neurosurgeon thought he would.
