Hi. Lem, [alias "dan"], here.
There are two pics so fer..enuff fer u t get a ruff idea what lem looks like. All right, they did yrs and yrs of plastic surgery and this ws the best they cld do.Amazing what they cn do with fibrglass and a little plastic cement, tho, dont u think?
Actually they broke the mold and trashed it [in the "recyclable" barrel] when God "poured" lem, back in the fifties. They didn't want what you call,a "repeat" or clone of this face in case every1 wanted one!
Thank god [again] that lems face was not mutilated when he took the scenic route to the river below him as he drove thru the Fraser Valley Canyon, on the way to Prince George in Jan[vier - fer those francais persons among us] or Jan[uary fer those of us who speaks The Lord's English], 1970. Thats Prince George as in BC, Canada. Prince George, an ugly smelly little fart('scuse me) pulp town , lem lived in fer 2 yrs as a high sch. student.
If yas got thru the last paragiraff, the rest should be a breeze..
No, Lem was not on his way to visit Axion. Ax lives much further north than lem would ever go...we're talkin "the end of cicilizashun as fer as man snows it".
Lem was simply being Lem, doing a favor fer a difft friend, returning that friend's car to him from Vancouver, where Lem resides. Lem was 18 at the time, and lost about 17 years in that accident!
Thets right , did the "child" thing I didst. Like being totally reborn, re-learning how to walk, to talk..and pretty well everything else!
To set the record straight [in case anyone here likes to bend the truth a little];
... Lem left Vancouver at about 4 in the morning [with yet another friend!] heading Due South (no, wait a minute it was East). Had bkfst in a small town 90 miles along, bef4 heading north up into the aforementionned canyon . There was lots of snow on the ground and still some falling out of the sky, or at least from the clouds up there [alright there ws a blizzard].
Yus this was lem's first experience highway driving [he'd only had his licence three months and only ever did a bit of driving in the big city..] The car was as 1966 Renault, a rear engine job ( if it really had an engine). Lem never owned his own..lucky fer every1 else, or every1 concerned, or something...
Not to carry on too much, but, to continue..we had brecky in the small town and headed north,. there are lots of small bridges and lots of fences and trees and rocks..and the kind of stuff u regulrly find on a country highway [the roadkill might have included some deer, foragging fer food er somethin..like all wild animals do, a little too close to the highway ]. As we got further north the road got higher and higher in the mountains, the snow got deeper, and conditions got generally worse fer ware or where or wear or whatever.. the road got icier, where there ws still road t be seen, anyway. 'Course sometimes we couldn't really see the road but I new it was there somewhere.
Alright I cant tell u exactly how fer up that canyon, but somewhere up thar, three miles north of an even smaller town, called Lytton [u probly hurd about it when environmeant canader does "the coldest spot [literally, the coldest 'speck']..in Canader" routine on the nightly news] .. three miles north, that is, we hit a bad spot of black ice at 45 miles per hour [80k?], and rather than do the cool thing and ignore the ice, we headed off the highway and bungied without the rope. Went over an 85 ft cliff, we did, and probly lost consciousness in mid air.
Lem...cool, like Scar..did the "leave the scene" thing (when the driver's door flew off the car), and flew out about 40 feet, hittin a big rock when he landed . not just yer regular boulder, either..I picked a big un, a bit shorter than I wuz, and I wuz 5ft 10 in.s
Lems friend threw himself against the passenger door [dang it I'd just had the car repairded after an motor vehicle accident in the big city] He spilled out onto the ground and was blackout city [a slightly smaller town] fer about two minutes. Lem totally exteradited hisself from society fer about three months [2 1/2 munths. less than conshuss, and 2 weekers in semi-lala land]. And thats about all lem remembers, 'cept o course fer the 5 1/2c months in the general store sum called a hospital [sumthin about spittin, anyhow..]; and o coarse the little bit more than a year he spent in and out of the rehabitayshun cennur, and maybe the 4 operayshuns on his left feemur er whatever they callz it.
That was lems introductory offer to accidents, afterwhich he was a hit on the streets by a vehicle in a hopscotch..or cross cotch or walk or sumthin on his way fer a cup o that java beanier stuff. one fine morning..[here we go with the johnveeay/january stuff again..this time on the 14th, the day bef4 on of his operayshuns was shed youlled..albeit 21 yrs later..] in 1991. But 4tune at lee..(yes, say it fast, thats right).. thatz anuther storee fer anuther segmeant in wut we hope isnt a thrill ogee [sorry, a trilogy - no, thats not three orgies, ax]. Take care, my frenz, or..take the high road. Or, if youde reeally rather not to share a similur expeeriennce, or suc a speshull moment ,,er sumthing, take a tip and dont drive like me. There, that outta do it...yup!.
