Hello! My name is Dara. My cousin Phillip was in a car accident on Dec 30, 01. He had been drinking and was stopped at a red light, at an underpass. When the light changed, he gunned the engine. As he went into the turn, he started fishtailing. He hit some gravel and shot off into a concrete freeway support pole, hitting his t-top camero on the driver's side door. The force of the crash tore off the door and his head bounced off the pole. The witnesses (thank God for them!) said they had to pry his mouth open because he was choking on his blood. He would have died if they hadn't been there. He smashed his left forehead on the pole and cracked his skull all the way around, blowing out the other side. He was in ICU for about a month. 6 weeks after the accident, he had to have surgery again, to reconstruct his his facial bones, including his left eye socket. Last week, he was moved to a rehab hospital. We still don't know what kind of limitations he may have (although we do know he's now blind in his right eye). He's been making progress, though. He's walking for short periods of time, eating normal food again, beginning to write and even has spoken a couple words (he still has the trach...)Please pray for Phillip, as his is lacking in motivation. Also, pray for his family, exspecially for his mother and fiancee, as they are taking on a lot.
I will have a web site up and running for Phillip soon:
