Darla

My name is Darla. On September 29,2003 My husband was in a motor vehicle accident. he ended up with a burst fracture in his C2 vertabrae and tramatic brain injury. The fracture in his neck healed but it's been over two years and he still doesn't talk or walk. During the first year of his accident I had him in a few different facilities but was never happy. So I decided to bring him home. I moved into a bigger house and bought a handicapped van that has a lift on it. This are really difficult Not only do I take care of him I also take care of our five children all under the age of ten. I do have care attendants that come and help me but that can be overwhelming, Just because I have people in and out of my house all the time. I do believe that my husband will get better. He does respond with head nods and hand gestures but is very inconsistant. He does smile especially when it comes to our children. I do feel that my husband knows what is going on around him. That he understands situations going on around him. I know that a lot of medications he's on makes him tired and I'm Having a hard time keeping him in therapy. Which I feel he needs very much. If anyone feels like talking about situations like this please e-mail me. I would love to hear how others deal with situations like this .
