The TBI Chatroom |
I was a carpenter off and on scince getting out of school in 1974. While on the job working on a roof I somehow fell and landed on the concrete. My fall was only approxmently 17 feet but I landed forehead first my coworker was the one who found me lying unconcious in a pool of blood. scince we were doing an addition to the fire station emergency response was very guick and I was taken to Shock Trauma by state police helicopter. I spent seven days there in a coma and was discharged after nine days. I was sent to a rehalibation hospital and thought I was there due to a fractured wrist which happened in my fall. I had a metal splint on my wrist which was my only obvious reason for being there. I tried to get out of there telling my wife and the doctors that I could remove this thing from my arm myself. I was finaly discharged 21 days later and came home thinking I was fine but am constantly seeing otherwise. Has been a very long road and I was ready to quit many times but with the support of my wife and two sons and many doctors I am still trying. There is life after T.B.I. although I am still searching for mine. To all survivors of T.B.I. dont quit keep the faith because life is worth living. The accident was march 27th 1996.
