Dede "Primesuspect"
I am told that I was visiting a dear friend on the one-year anniversary of her father's death. I am told that my visit was a pleasant, unexpected, impulsive, generous one. I am told that as I left her residence, I was heading back to work. Well, I never made it back to the office because five minutes down the road, I was off the road. I am told that a volunteer rescue squad managed to reach me and that, although unconscious, I was quite a handful. Once intubated (sp), I was air lifted to a nearby hospital. I am told it would be several hours before my dear friend came to my side - again, on the one-year anniversary of her dad's death. My own family would arrive nearly 12 hours later. I am told the first word I spoke after emerging from a drug-enduced sleep was Pepsi. That I believe!!!
While I still have numbness in the left leg and left side of my face as well as double vision in the lower quadrants, I have adapted. I am blessed that my parents were able to take me home to SC and care for me while I participated in out-patient therapy.
For the first time, I feel very awake and fully present.
