It happened 17 years ago. Life was great, it was summer, I was 13, in a national sports program, and I was on top of the world. Riding home on my bicycle one afternoon, crossing a busy highway, I was hit by an ice truck, thrown against a steel post, hitting my head, then thrown against the truck's windshield, hitting my head again......I was NOT wearing a helmet. I was taken to the hospital in Farmington, New Mexico where I laid in a coma in ICU for six weeks. The doctors gave up hope so my family flew me to Lubbock, Texas. I was in a deep coma for about 4 more months, and in the hospital an entire year. Since that time, I have finished highschool and attended about a year of college, and tried to get a life, but life was and is difficult with tbi as many of you know. I could not get through a single day without God. He has helped me throughout this whole ordeal. I know He has some thing or some purpose for my life, I'm willing to do whatever He wants me to do. I still live with my parents on our cattle ranch near Durango, Colorado, and help with the business as I can. We also have a pottery business and I help with this making beautiful things out of stoneware clay. I also garden and in the summer and fall, I sell produce. Life is good, but different than it would have been, but I still have the hopes and dreams of a 30 year old man, and pray they will be fulfilled in this lifetime.
This TBI site has meant a lot to me. I have made friends, and they are always willing to talk to and support me with their love and friendship. Thanks All!! Harl Kendrick (har)
