On September 11, 1993, I was driving home after a day of fun with my best freinds. My friend Jennifer, her sister was getting married, so we attending the wedding. Then we left, headed back to my place, changed into shorts, t-shirt,etc... We went to the mall, got some pizza, then went and saw a movie. Calender Girl, couldn't tell if it was good or not becasue I don't remember, and still haven't seen since my accident. Oh well. I was driving, I think I was messing with my radio, and when I looked up, there was a car in the middle of road. I swerved to miss hiom, causing my wheels to go off the side of the road. It caused me to flip four times. The guy that ran me off the road called 911, and then left me.
My mom, Charlotte, was at home, waiting. I was late! My curfew was thirty minutes ago. Thinking that I must have stopped in at a friends house. She called Shannon, she was one of my very best friends, and she was the last one I dropped off. She called. I had left over forty-five minutes ago! Shannon told my mom. My mom walked outside. she stood on the porch, looking, and waiting, when she heard the sirens. All the dogs in the neighborhood were barking. She ran inside, and upstairs to wake my dad. She told I had been in a accident.
So, my dad drives up to the scene, and says to the paramedics, "I think that's my daughter."
My mom is still waiting outside when the phone rings, she answers it, praying that it's me. It wasn't. It the was the hospital, saying that my dad , and her needed to get to the hospital to identify a body. I was pronouced dead at the scene. Frantic my mom hangs up the phone and calls my family in Ohio. I was living in Kentucky. She told them I have been a car accident. And she tells them, she has to tell them, "Y'all may not make it."
The paramedics, which I met, said that my left ankle was in the sterling wheel, my right leg was in the passenger seat, and from the waist up, I was in the back seat, and my head was smashed in the back window.
I made it though, as I'm sure you already know. Five, and half months in a coma. I had to learn how to walk again. Graduated a year later than what I was supposed to, but all in all I made it. I have been so blessed, and I hope you've enjoyed my story!!!
