I have suffered a head injury through 2 concussions from sport in June this year. The first happened playing rugby league, (like American football but without the padding and helmets)and the second was an elbow in basketball 2 weeks later. I feel somewhat humbled by the severity of some of the other stories I have read and I guess it puts my situation into perspective.Like Janee Pope mentions in her inspirational story, there is always someone worse off than you. After a concussion of several minutes, from being backslammed into the ground during a football match for my beloved team, BROTHERS, I recovered without too many symptoms after a week and went back to sport. Doctor's advice was 3 weeks. I went back in 2. Then after the second KO, courtesy of a team mate's elbow in a rebound (basketball - yes - some of us Aussies can play), these horrible symptoms began. Now am still off work and experiencing intermittent foul headaches and light headedness and a lethargy like I have never encountered before. I feel fortunate to be able to care for my four kids and can drive for short stints and do some gardening on good days. Like all of you TBI battlers (and MTBIs like me),I think it would be great to go back to work and normality soon. Thanks for reading. Compassion to you.
