Jenny Cullen
IT WAS MONDAY MAY 19, 1997 AND I GOT READY FOR WORK (I HAD TO BE THERE AT 8:30 AM) AND LEFT THE HOUSE AT 7:45 AM SO I COULD MAKE IT TO WAUKEGAN, IL. BY 8:30. I LIVED IN ANTIOCH..ABOUT A HALF HOUR AWAY OR MORE. I WAS DRIVING DOWN TO RTE 45 AND I WAS STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT. MY LIGHT TURNED GREEN, SO I WAS ATTEMPTING TO GO STRAIGHT. LITTLE DID I KNOW THERE WAS A SEMI TRUCK COMING THE OTHER WAY AND THEY DECIDED TO BLOW THEIR STOP LIGHT. SO I WAS HIT BY A SEMI IN MY 1996 CHEVY S10. I WAS STILL ALIVE (I STILL DON'T RECALL THAT MORNING OR ACCIDENT), SO A FLIGHT FOR LIFE WAS SENT TO BRING ME TO THE MILWAUKEE, WI. HOSPITAL. THANK GOD THEIR WAS AN EYE WITNESS WHO STAYED THERE AND TOLD THE POLICE EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED. I WAS PUT IN ICU AND THEN TRANSFERRED TO REHABILITATION INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO. I WAS IN A COMA FOR ABOUT A WEEK AND DON'T RECALL MOVING TO CHICAGO. AFTER REHABILITATION INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO (RIC) I HAD TO GO TO A REHAB IN WHEELING, IL. CALLED REHABILITATION ACHEIVEMENT CENTER (RAC). I'VE HAD TO LEARN HOW TO WALK, EAT, DRINK & SWALLOW, TALK & WRITE ALL OVER AGAIN.
I AM LIVING PROOF THAT A SEMI OR WHAT HAVE YOU CANNOT STOP ME JENNY CULLEN FROM LIVING, I HOPE THIS GIVE SOMEONE ELSE WHO HAS A TRAUMATIC BRAIN INJURY SOME HOPE.
