Jo Hogle

Hello,
My name is Jo and I have had 3 strokes in the past 4 years. The first one when I was 42 years old. I have recovered fairly well and now walk with a brace and a cane. My speech is almost back to normal although I have the common problem of being unable to find the words that I need or the names of objects when under stress. I am a professional person, but I have had to stop working due to the problems from the strokes compounded with other medical problems. The irony being that my job has involved working with disabled individuals for the past 18 years.

I at times have problems coping, and dealing with the way I am treated by the rest of the world. Knowing I am lucky to have recovered as well as I have, but yet being treated as an inferior person because of the disabilities.

I am hoping that this connection will mean a lesser feeling of isolation and a better understanding of how others deal with the every day trials of life.
