On Sept. 6, 2003 I was in a automobile wreck with my son. I was hit by a gravel truck carrying a bull dozer. My son was taken to the local hospial and I was carried by lifesaver to Birmingham hospital UAB. I had a blood clot and tumor on the left side of my brain and was rushed into surgery. I was not suppose to make it threw the surgery. My wife got there as fast as she could, and they would not let her see me until they moved me to NICU. I was in there for 2 weeks, on a ventalator and drain tubes in my head, feeding tubes, and etc. My wife came everyday and stayed at the hospital and got to see me when visiting hours. She stated that alot of the time I did not know she was there, but most of it she could tell me to squeeze her hand and I would. I then got moved to TICU, and then to Spain Rehab. Where I had to learn to walk, talk, etc. again, my wife stood by my side and made sure I was taken care of. The day I remember was when my wife told me she would be back at 6:30 the next morning, and I was waiting on her and a nurse came in told me she was going to give me a bath. I told her that my wife would be here any time, she said we can not wait on her and unzipped the bed I was in. I jumped out of the bed and grabbed my clothes and went in the bathroom and shut the door. She stayed out there banging on the door, holloring Mr. Skinner you are going to fall. I came out after I had taken a bath and she zipped me up in the bed. She stayed in there a while and I told her I had to use the bathroom, she would not let me out, so I ended up peeing all over myself. My wife came in and seen me and hit the roof. This is the day I remember funny huh. I am still having some trouble with my memory, and my brain shuting down. It has been a hard adjustment for me and my wife. Our love is very strong and we will get threw this together. If you ever need anyone to talk to e-mail me. thank you, john
