Original Story
This is my story for TBI people and anyone else interested. On Dec.8th 1981 I was hit by a plumbing van while I was crossing the street.I fell 5 times and hit my head on a sewer cover.I then went to the emergency room & was treated for a broken collar bone & released.(probably because no one at the hospital knew i had hit my head)I was too confused to tell them.I had follow up care for a broken collar bone, but did not know i was going through stages of head injury.I took on things i couldent handle anymore because of the injury and could not admit to myself i was unable to do things i used to do before the accident.I finally was admitted to the pshyc ward because i was confused, dizzy & angry.I've been seeing a pshyciatrist for almost 20 yrs now.i was also in an other accident 5 yrs after the first one,and hit my head on a winshield-the whole car was demolished.i am on meds now to keep stable, and also have severe tinitis.i was diagnosed with hypo-thyroidism,and will be on synthroid the rest of my life.I have good & bad days, but feel awful, especially in the morning.I read the bible every day,i love music, and play the piano.I especially like irish music.i got married Oct.21st 1995,and my son from a previous relationship, and my husband help tremendously.my husband works making orthopedic shoes and does shoe repair & leatherwork.Email Katie
