Larry Allen

It happened on the morning of my 35th. birthday. Hi I am a new man in a lot of ways. In a lot of ways for the better but I still miss parts of the old Larry. I just got off work on the morning of July 13 1988 after working graveyard. I was a deck engineer for a dredging company and we were putting in the california aqueduct system in Collinsville Ca.. I walk in to a steel hatch way the night before and took a good blow to my head. I did not drive that night my friend drove. Oh writting this it brings up such bad memorys but who know might help me heal. Now on this job we were working the year before and a young man was killed. He was just out of high school decking for his father on the tug boat. This time the companys had paramedics an a ambulance on site who would think I would need them. I drove the night of the 12th we were working from 6pm to 6 am. all night long everyone said I was complaining of a bad headace. The divers were working under water this night and there was not much for us to do on deck so I found a place to sleep and went to sleep. About 4am we were told that we could leave because all the work was going to be under water and we could go home and get some rest. So we took the crew boat in and my friend said I was still complaing of a bad headache. He offered to drive but he said I told him to shut up and get in. We got in and drove about 1/8 of a mile and he said he was reclining his seat back to go to sleep. He said the next thing he hear was me saying hold on. Oh this hurts rembering but the next thing I remember is waking up in a hospital about 3 weeks latter. I could go on and on but thank God I am alive and I am a new person.
