I'm writting this as my New Year's resolution. I found this chat room about a month ago, and it really has been a God send.My car accident happened almost three years ago, before that time many changes were already taking place. I was in the middle of a divorce after 28 years of marriage, and had returned to college. My sister was in critical care at that time, and I was trying to help out with her four kids and raise my own 8 year old daughter. It was on the way to school that my car was rear-ended at a stop sign. Since that time my mother suffered a massive stroke and is in a nursing home. It's said that God won't give you more then you can handle, but all of this sure seemed like it was. Finding this chat room has given me a retreat and it's so nice to be able to laugh again. I am able to get the answers that doctors don't seem to have and the understanding from other's that have been in this same place. The worse is the denial that we put on ourselves possibaly because it comes from everyone we know and trust, only because they can't seem to understand. I hope that the New Year brings us all something postive, and that someday the medical community will reconize and support TBI and help the survivors and caregivers.
