The TBI Chatroom |
The last thing that I clearly remembered for month was picking my daughter up at her friends house. I was told that I stopped at the sigh (stop) twice before proceeding. they tell me that the car that hit me seemed to come out of no where and the it was traveling "like a bat out of hell". I remember hearing voices. I remember a man telling me,"we are going to get you out of here" and thinking out of where?
I do not really remember being in the hospital or really clearly remember much for the next few months. I remember being told that I had sustained a tramatic brain injury.. and not being able to do many of the things I took for granted before. At the time of the accident, I was studying advanced calculus, suddenly I needed a calculator to do simple arithematic. Everything became a challenge! Even now, more than two years after, I still see effects every day. How long does this persist? I was told that there are some effects, such as the loss of manual dexterity, that may always be with me. too, I am fighting a sense of guilt...what if they had hit the opposite side of the car. (the car impacted on the driver's side, as a result my daughter suffered only minor injuries.) It is really bad when I become fatigued. I sound as if I have been drinking and I begin to shake. Thank you for your patience.
