My name is Matthew Fields and I had my tbi in 1994 at the age of 16. A gravel truck side-swiped me and flung my car 120 ft. down the road. I was in a coma for 6 days and my left side was paralyzed. I had to relearn how to do everything and I was in a wheelchair for 4 months, but have learned to walk and use my left arm fairly well. I developed epilepsy a few weeks after I came out of the coma, starting with smells and visions. I have had brain surgery and VNS surgery for my seizures, which are almost completely gone now. I went through 10 months of computer classes at ACC Highland Business Center here in Austin, TX in a program called PASS-IT-ON. I am now looking for work and looking for love.
