The TBI Chatroom |
My name is Michelle, I have an 11 year old son, Justin, who was electrocuted on May 29, 1998. Justin has been in a coma since the accident. My husband and I have been trying very hard to deal with this and keep our family together. The stress level in our lives is very high. We have been told not to expect any recovery. In the past two months we have seen some improvement. He has been smiling at us when we talk to him and in the past few days, he has been moving his feet on command. At first we thought he was having muscle spasms, but the movement has been consistent. It takes about a minute for him to move, but he is doing it. The first 10 months, we didn't see any improvement. When we tell the doctors that we are seeing improvement they look at us with a pitying look on their faces. I would imagine that they think we're in denial about his condition. We are not in denial. If we don't believe that he will get better than we will give up and he will also. I am losing faith in traditional medicine. I want so much for my son. I'm not sure where to turn anymore. We can't seem to find any help. The doctors aren't very hopeful and with us needing to believe it doesn't help us. Where can we turn to get the help we need? Does anyone have any suggestions that might help us find a way to help our son?
