I don't remember anything from the accident . In fact I don't remember the following year at all.
I do have some memory of past events but lose new events in about 2-4 days. Sort of like a puzzle that keeps losing pieces till you can't make out the picture. I have lost the ability to organize even some very simple things like cooking, shopping. I lost vision too so I can't drive.I had seizures and have some of the symptoms post-ictal syndrome.
I need a care attendant to help me through the day (without burning the house down!!LOL) and God has blessed me with her and with so many wonderful therapists. I was a nurse and owned my own Ememrgency Clinic and had 30 doctors and 20 nurses. I loved the clinic and it made me feel wonderful to make sure all our patients were treated very well with dignity and respect. I handpicked the doctors and nurses so they would be compassionate and up-to-date and would really listen to our patients. I find it very difficult to have to be a patient myself, but I do see it ( most times) as a blessing so I can do better things (not bigger things).
I also suffered chest and abdominal trauma that has left me with Heart Problems and digestive problems.
I keep my life very simple and quiet as social situations are overwhelming for me. I love to support people who are having hard times ,esp. on the internet. (I also worked in Psychiatry) . This also helps me forget about my problems. My family has been wonderful. My extended family really can't understand why I can't do all that I used to. I look normal, seem to be fine so they think I am fine.
I used to juggle 10 projects at once and used to run a 500 member theatre group,. Now I'm lucky if I can juggle 2 projects a month!!
I'm a very cheerful person and have been blessed with a great sense of humor.
God Bless all of you.
I will add the wonderful people on this site to my prayer list.
