Hi My name is Nicole my son is Anthony is was diagnosed on Halloween evening with having a cavernoma in his brain stem. He was leading a normal healthy life until I went to get him out of bed that morning and he was like a newborn baby, he had no control over anything. He couldnt walk, talk, or hold his own head up. He is 16 months. I had no clue what could be wrong !! He started doing better so they moved him over to Kluge Rehab. Center in Charlottesville, Va. Then one morning he woke up and his blood pressure was up and he was throwing up. They took him back to the hospital (UVA) for a CT Scan which showed the spinal fluid was not draining like it was supposed to so they had to do emergency surgery to put in a shunt. He came back to KCRC today Sunday Nov. 19,00. So far he's doing o.k. He still cant move that much and still cant hold his head up. But they're do therapy everyday.
