Pat Wilde

I'm afraid that my story is pretty boring, but here goes! On Father's Day, June 21, 1998, I had an aneurysm rupture. My husband drove me to the hospital where I was DOA. They brought me around and was scheduled for surgery on June 24th. I had the surgery, it was a giant (whatever that is!) aneurysm which was resting on my left optic nerve. A neuro-surgeon opened my head up but a 2 man team of vascular surgeons clipped the aneurysm with 3 titanium clips. The doctors gave my family no hope whatsoever. They even filled out organ donor papers. I spent 2 weeks in ICU. All total, I was in the hospital for 6 weeks. The family was told that I could not be released to go home. I needed more rehab. I was sent to Timber Ridge Ranch in Benton, Arkansas. It is a residential rehab just for head injuries. That place is BEAUTIFUL! I owe everything to those folks. I don't remember a single thing about rupture, surgery or hospital stay. I "woke up" the 3rd day at "the ranch". I don't even remember the month of June! I spent 6 weeks there and came home in Sept. I've been doing great and started back to work on a part-time basis in Jan. 1999. I am now working 30 hours a week and really enjoy it! Almost everything in this story was told to me by my family. I guess I ought to be thankful that I don't remember anything! God bless you all! : )
