My name is Robert Marcus. I am Sixty one years old and have had two Brain operations and one jolting Brain Concussion. When I was ready to enter college I played the Piano at various major events. At one performance, during the intermission a jealous lover of a lady that was admiring me hit me from behind. My head hit the concrete curb. He then kicked me in the head a dozen times and my head was bounced on the curb like a rubber ball. Blood came from my eyes, nose and ears and mouth. I was run to the hospital where a Doctor drilled a hole on each side of my head, then opened my skull from ear to ear. I was in a coma during those months of summer. I remember seeing the Crucifix of Jesus, on the Cross, hanging on the wall. A bright light of mist or glow enveloped the Cross of Jesus. The voice or thought I could hear in my head-"What have you done with your life...What do you intend to do with the rest of your life...Who have you told about me?" I cried and cried through that experience as the Minister and Doctors stood their ready to give me my last rites. I heard the Doctor say. "He is alive-Dead men don't cry". They explained to me that I had survived a brain operation, I couldn't walk, couldn't talk, was paralyzed, and my heart had stopped for 7 minutes. My second incident occurred while in the military. All I remember is being in a helicopter-then waking up in a Hospital. From Viet Nam to California,to Nevada and finally to Arizona.
My third incident was when I misjudged the clearance of the door rame in the car I was getting out of. I stood up and smashed my head against the door frame. Blood again came from my ears, eyes, nose and mouth. I was again in the hospital for a year not knowing anything, who I was or my background. It was like the movie "One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest." I was walking into walls and talking to myself.
I have come a long way due to the pure Grace of God. I play the piano around Prescott on occasion and regularly at a nursing home here in town. I can no longer read music but if they hum or whistle the tune "I've got it". And everytime I get the chance I let people know that it is Gods grace that did it.
