On Feb. 18, 2006 my life changed forever. My daughter Jessica decided to take her own life by hanging her self. It was a Saturday afternoon around 1:00 pm, Jessica came home from her dad's and was in her room on the computer and on her cell phone. She was talking to her ex- boyfriend who had broken up with her just 4 days before on Valentines day. Jessica seem to be handling the break up, but was hurt and was ill with her little brother Cameron who was 6 at the time. We had gone to town and gotten lunch. Jessica did not want to go so I brought her back a sandwich. I took the sandwich to her room and she was still on the phone, she told me to get out and yelled at Cameron to get out also. We left her to her phone call. Cameron went to his room and played video games and I layed down on the couch. I am a LPN and had worked Friday night 7 pm to 7 am, and I hadn't been to bed yet. Around 1:45 Cameron came running into the living room screaming that Jessica is hanging in her closet with something around her neck. I went running into her room and there hung my beautiful daughter in her closet. Her eyes were open. It took me 2 or 3 tryes to get her down. She had taken the belt she wore to school everyday, buckled it around her neck , tied it around the rod she hung her clothes on and dropped to her knees. Jessica did not have a pulse, I called 911 and started CPR on her. A first responder was at our home within minutes. We still had no pulse. The EMS was there with in 5 mins. Jessica was bagged and intabated. We had gotten a pulse by then. Jessica was airlifted to Greenville SC. The DR's did not expect her to make it through the night. Jessica was on life support for 8 days. She was in PICU for 3 wks. Jessica opened her eyes around the 5th day. She had to have a peg tube for feedings. She was sent to reheb for 2 wks for family training. We brought her home on March 24. Jessica would open her eyes but that was all. I got on her computer to look for treatments. Hyperbaric oxygen kept popping up. I found a chamber clinic in Cumming Ga., about 2 hrs away. I drove Jessica to the treatments everyday. we would leave home around 7:30 am and would get home around 3:00 pm. I did this for 6 wks. Jessica was showing progress. My mother and sister bought a HBO for our home. Jessica gets in it every day. It has been 24 wks since this happened. Jessica can now follow us with her eyes. move her arms on comand. open her mouth, stick out her tongue. LORD JESUS CHRIST is with her everyday. She will recover from this. We now live by faith not by sight. My prayers are with each and eveyone. Please feel free to email us anytime.
