My husband was in a motorcycle accident on 2/10/2003 he suffered a traumatic brain injury he was in a coma and the doctors did'nt expect him to make it he was hooked up to all kinds of machines he was on life supports they put a trach in his throat and gave him a feeding tube he had an open fracture to his right ankle a collasped right lung he also broke his left femer and had a lot of scrapes and cuts he is in a rehab hosp and has been for the past 2 and half years now it is so sad to see him just lying there and not able to do anything for himself. He used to be talker and now he does'nt talk unless you ask him a question he may answer with his voice or just shrug his shoulders or shake his head yes or no. I have been praying for him since day one of his accident and so have many other's have been praying for him also I am thankful that he is still here but It really hurts to see him in that state he does'nt get any physical therapy because they say he is not consistent my question is how can a patient become consistent if you don't work with them on a daily basis neither are they trying to ween him from the trach I need some help some information on what I can do to help my husband I feel that I am not helping him because I have no resources on how to help a brain injured love one if you are reading my story and can help me with some info please contact me thank you and God bless you.
