Tammy "Wheels/Tam" White

It was July 6, 1984, when I was 15 years old, I was in the back of a truck after being out in the desert with friends heading home at 11pm. It had rained and on the way home, we hit a big dip in the road that had filled with water and the truck hydroplaned a long ways then hit and rolled several times. The other girl in the back was thrown out right away, but I held onto the rollbar. My pupil was already blown when the paramedics got there later (we were a long way out). They didn't give me much hope....in fact, my parents were told after the third day we could stop life support. I was in the coma about 2 1/2 months then very slowly woke. I didn't know anyone for awhile, then couldn't talk for another couple months. I was paralyzed on the right side, still am, and the left side has ataxia (tremors). I still have double vision. This all makes it hard for me to read the computer screen and type fast enough to keep up with the chat rooms. I think some have gotten mad at me for it. I go to College twice a week, and a Head Injury Group once a week. I have a cuddly loyal little dog named Doogie. I still get out and go lots of places. My mom and I like to go on Arizona road trips.....I love my mom for staying by me and never giving up on me as she was advised. Well....that's my story and I'm sticking to it!!
