My daughter and son were on a car accident on a rainy day in July 2004. My son broke his neck in two places and after surgery is fully recovered. My daughter Emilee suffered an open TBI involving both frontal lobes. She was in a coma for 2 months, underwent 2 craniotomies, the second one lasting 12 hours. They rebuilt her skull under the frontal lobes with bone cement and placed a VP shunt in to remove escess fluid. She remained nonverbal until the folowing March 05 and took her first step Dec 04. She is going to therapy 4 days a week along with returning to school. She works very hard, studying at least 4 hours a day to keep her grades up. She doesn't have short term memory and needs guided through most of her day because she lacks planning abilities. However, she never cries or complains and tells everyone, including her therapiest Thankyou no matter how tired she is. She's my inspiration and my angel.
