In April, 1999 I was rushed to hospital with Herpes Simplex Encephalitis. Frankly, my survival was a miracle, due in no small way to the excellent neurological doctor in attendance. But, once one goes home...

Since then, I have spent hours and hours seeking information and support on this illness. In Great Britain, a group by the name of Encephalitis Support Group was started in the early 1990's. The week of Oct 1-8 is Encephalitis Awareness Week in GB.

Just two months ago, I started a group, Encephalitis Global, on the Internet. My days are quiet, now, and I've thrown most of my energies into this new creation. To give support and information where needed.

Response is overwhelming... Malaysia, Ireland, Australia, as well as North America. More than sixty members, in less than a month. Parents of encephalitis AND adult encephalitis survivors. One of our very recent topics, has concerned the blending of Encephalitis and Parkinsons Disease.

I am proud to be a Canadian woman, moving to help others. Do you have any suggestions?
